LNU News Center: On the afternoon of September 27, our university andNational Academy of Science and Philosophy of Belarus held the Sino-Belarusian Research Center of Philosophy and Culture (hereafter referred to as the Center) construction and development forum in the International Conference Hall. The two sides had a thorough discussion about the development of the Center, the directions and details of cooperative research, cooperative training of PhDs, and cooperation in conducting research and exchange. Vice President Huang Wei presided over the meeting. 

Lazarevich Anatoly, dean of the Philosophy Research Institute of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus, believed that this cooperation between China and Belarus would have a lot of room for development. Guided by the One Belt One Road initiative, by training professionals through educational cooperation, conducting cooperative research and academic exchange in the field of philosophy and social culture, and publishing monographs and papers of Chinese-Belarusian philosophical research, the two sides can promote the development of the Center.

Hanklonak Eha, dean of the Training School for Scientific Researchers of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus, talked about tentative plans of cooperative research and details about joint training of doctoral students. He pointed out that the joint trained doctoral students should be proficient in Chinese and have a good command of English or Russian as a foreign language; Belarus would offer preparatory Russian programs and provide excellent living conditions and a good political environment. He hoped that the exchange student training program would be under way soon. 

How to develop the Center? Huang Wei put forward two suggestions: 1. to further strengthen Sino-Belarusian philosophical and cultural construction by providing the greatest support in terms of funding, policy reform and other relevant conditions, so as to build the Center into the most representative one; and 2. to do further consultation and cooperation concerning graduate education, with the Center as the base.

Professor Zhang Jian, director of the Center and dean of the School of Law and Political Science, talked about the objectives of the Centre and how to develop it. The Center had a tentative plan of development in the five years to come. It is decided that after years’ work, Sino-Belarusian cooperation would go well. The Center would hold an academic and cultural forum where distinguished scholars from both China and Belarus would be present. The Center will promote the study of Sino-Belarusian traditional philosophy and culture and publish a batch of excellent papers and monographs; it would also set up five to ten projects of Sino-Belarusian traditional philosophy and culture and put them out for bidding, so as to have more people involved in research and raise the standards of research; both sides would offer Russian and Chinese classes, and very year, members would be dispatched to the two centers for exchange and research, to achieve the mutual flow of Sino-Belasrusian culture by relying on the Confucius Institute; the Center would, on behalf of LNU, to discuss and agree on the matters concerning the joint training of PhD students.

Mr. Dmitry Smalik, dean of the Philosophy Research Institute of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus, leaders of the Office of School Affairs, Office of International Exchange and Cooperation, leaders of the School Affairs Office, the Office of International Exchange and Cooperation, the Office of Scientific Research, and the Personnel Office, and the administrators and researchers were present and talked at length about cooperation.
