LNU News Center: on the afternoon of December 28, the Opening Ceremony for 2018 International Undergraduate Students was held at Telepresence Classroom of Future Education Space Station. LNU President Lan Yanze attended the ceremony.
“I hope you can behave like a bamboo in your future study and life, because bamboos do not rush to grow at the beginning; on the contrary, their roots grow deeply root in the soil to absorb sufficient energy. Similarly, you should be making full preparation and absorbing energies for the fulfilment of your dreams, and achieve the vision that ‘stay focused on your study for four years in the LNU, and you will be rewarded for the rest of your life by the LNU’.” Ms. Lan briefed the foreign students on the geological environment, teaching staff and international exchanges of the University. In the meantime, she hoped the foreign students would be able to stay hunger, stay foolish; encouraged them to remain confident, seek self-transcendence and respond to difficulties and challenges encountered in the living and study; emphasized that the foreign students should abide by the laws and regulations of China and the regulations of the University, and grow into excellent talents. In the end, she hoped all foreign students would make friends at LNU, experience the profound culture of China, and contribute to the exchange of different cultures.
Kelly, the undergraduate representative of Business English Program; and Sonam, the undergraduate representative of Chinese Language & Literature Program, shared their studying and living experiences in the past two months at LNU. Kelly said that the educational method and living style at LNU were different from what she had expected and hoped to contribute to the exchanges between China and Africa; Sonam hoped to make amazing academic achievements and here and put into practice the knowledge so as to contribute to the Sino-Nepal cooperation.
At the ceremony; foreign students watched the promotional film of LNU, and thumbed up the achievements that the University had made over the years; after the ceremony, they communicated with teachers from their schools and took group photos.
The 26 students will study Business English and Chinese Language & Literature programs for 4 years in LNU. In recent years, LNU has actively carried out exchanges and cooperation with overseas schools and institutions, established close cooperation with 60 overseas schools and institutions in the US, the UK, Japan, South Korea, Thailand, etc., and jointly conducted academic exchanges and educational trainings with its partners. So far, it has offered long- and short-term training programs to over 700 foreign students.
The ceremony was presided over by Zheng Zhijun, Director of International Exchange & Cooperation Office, and attended by chief officers and relevant teachers in President’s Office, University Dean’s Office, Office of International Exchange & Cooperation, School of Literature & Media and School of Foreign Languages were also present at the ceremony.
