LNU News Center: The 2018 LNU Students’ Overseas Travel Achievement Reporting & Experience Sharing Conference successfully opened at the Concert Hall on 28th November night.

Vice President Lan Yanze attended the conference and delivered an important speech. “It is better to travel ten thousand miles than to read ten thousand books”, said Lan, noting that “the overseas travel program has provided students with broader vision and better understanding of professional knowledge, and enabled them to experience different cultures and educational approaches and develop abilities in an all-round manner. Therefore, LNU will make intensified effort to take the program to a deeper level.” She hoped that the students would put into practice the principles from General Secretary Xi Jinping's major addresses, take advantage of platforms of the University, and contribute to the communication of excellent traditional culture of China while improving their personal and professional skills.

At the conference, Deputy Director of International Exchange & Cooperation Office Xiao Jianchun introduced the mission and purpose of the students’ overseas travel program, compared its development in the past 5 years, summarized the progress in 2018, analyzed its daily management and difficulties and solutions, and looked to the future of the program. The reporting officers reported the progresses of 14 programs including paid internship in the US, winter holiday exchange at Matsumoto University, student exchange with Korea National University of Transportation, study and exchange at Rajamangala University of Technology and “3.0 + 0.5” program at National Pingtung University of Education.

In return, we taught our Thai friends Chinese calligraphy, papercutting, Tai Chi, and showed the beauty of cheongsam. Though we stayed in Thailand for only a couple of months, yet we successfully and tremendously promoted Chinese culture”, said Gu Yaping and Deng Mingyue, the two participants of paid internship program in Thailand in May 2018.

In 2018, a total number of 258 students participated in 16 study and exchange, internship and social practice programs in the US, Belarus, Japan, South Korea, Thailand, Cambodia and Taiwan.
