Eleven Thai Exchange Students Successfully Complete Exchange Study in LNU

LNU Press Center News: “We have learned a lot of things about Chinese culture, such as Tai Chi, martial arts, Chinese painting, Chinese calligraphy, etc. We insist on speaking in Chinese. Thank our Chinese friends, we are very happy to meet you.” On the afternoon of May 28, at the Lingnan Normal University International Students Symposium and 2018 Course-Completion Ceremony of Thai Exchange Students, Li Xiaohui, a representative of Thai exchange students, expressed her happiness of studying in Lingnan Normal University. The course-completion ceremony was held on the fourth floor of Pengyuan and hosted by Zheng Zhijun, Director of the Office of International Exchange & Cooperation.

Shao Lexi, Vice President of the university, granted course-completion certificates and presented souvenirs to 11 exchange students from Rajamangala University of Technology. He spoke highly of the activities and achievements of the inter-university student exchange, and praised the hard work and nice organization of the Office of International Exchange & Cooperation in building the bridge of cooperation between the two universities, and also appreciated the strong support of relevant schools. According to him, exchange students should undertake the mission of cultural emissaries while improving their professional competency and gaining knowledge, spread Chinese culture and communicate achievements in various aspects, and strive for better achievements in professional fields and life path. As their second alma mater, Lingnan Normal University will be proud of them.

Exchange students from Thailand made video to review their study and life in our school in the past two months. At the ceremony, they also presented their study results of paper cutting, calligraphy and traditional Chinese painting, and brought the audience Thai performances with unique ethnic characteristics, showing the cultural charm of popular Thai songs and folk songs and dances.

Qiao Zhiqiang, Course Instructor and Vice President of Fine Art and Design School, said that Chinese calligraphy and paintings are extensive and profound, and they are the most distinctive art forms of traditional Chinese art. He hoped that the students would continue to learn Chinese calligraphy and Chinese painting after going back to Thailand and become active communicators of Chinese culture and Chinese art. Yan Kaizhen, Vice President of the School of Literature and Media, praised the students for their progress in learning Chinese. He also welcomed the students to come to China, to Zhanjiang, to Lingnan Normal University again in the near future.

It is reported that our university and Rajamangala University of Technology have sent 13 batches of about 288 students for exchange study. With the joint efforts of both sides, the curriculum has been gradually improved. Currently, our school has prepared Chinese language, Chinese art, sports and other cultural courses and humanistic experience activities for Thai exchange students, aiming at letting Thai exchange students to fully understand and integrate into the unique Chinese and Zhanjiang cultures while conducting cultural learning and communication.

Zhang Luchang, Deputy Director of the Department of Applied Linguistics, School of Literature and Media, Zheng Danna, teacher from the Office of International Exchange & Cooperation, relevant teachers and two overseas students from the UK and Vietnam attended the course-completion ceremony.
