LNU Press Center News: On the morning of May 30, the Summer Camp for "2018 Confucius Classroom" of Belarusian State University of Physical Culture (BSUPC) was officially opened in our school. Twenty-one BSUPC teachers and students will hold a 10-day experience program of traditional Chinese culture in our school. Huang Wei, Vice President of LNU, presented the flag to Ms. Natallia Kastseyeva, the BSUPC camp leader, and announced the opening of the camp.

According to Huang Wei, "Confucius Classroom" is a platform for enhancing friendship between Chinese and Belarusian youth; it is of positive significance for improving the cognition of Belarusian teachers and students on Chinese traditional culture and promoting the youth of the two countries to strengthen multi-cultural exchanges and broaden their cultural horizons. In his opinion, Chinese and Belarusian teachers and students should respect each other, learn from each other, inspire each other, and actively participate in the activities to further deepen the cognition to the culture and identity of the two countries; they should also enhance mutual trust and deepen friendship through continuous learning and exchanges, and actively serve as disseminators of Chinese culture and promoters of exchanges between Chinese civilization and other civilizations to make contributions to carrying forward the excellent traditional Chinese culture.

"The students of the summer camp are about to launch a variety of learning activities in beautiful Zhanjiang, which is a rare opportunity to learn Chinese and approach to Zhanjiang and the excellent traditional Chinese culture." Lin Li, associate researcher of Zhanjiang Foreign Affairs & Overseas Chinese Affairs Bureau, hoped that students of the "Confucius Classroom" cherish this opportunity to have a deeper understanding of China and Zhanjiang and become "Friendship Ambassadors" of cultural exchange between Zhanjiang and Belarus.

According to NATALLIA KASTSEYEVA, "Confucius Classroom is one of the most promising and fruitful cooperation projects between BSUPC and LNU." In her opinion, activities in the "Confucius Classroom" is already beyond the literal meaning of the name, and both sides try to upgrade "Confucius Classroom" to "Confucius Institute"; in the future, the relationship between the two universities will become even closer, which will also open a wider way for the knowledge and cultural values exchange and the establishment of a friendly dialogue partnership between the two sides.

Yang Lin, student representative of the School of Foreign Studies of LNU, looks forward to guiding Belarusian classmates to visit the beautiful campus, complete colorful cultural studies, art performances, sports competitions and other activities and experience the distinctive Chinese culture and local customs.

"We look forward to finding new friends and learning more about Chinese culture and Chinese language at LNU." Volha Yefimovich and Anastasiya Bylitskaya, student representatives from BSUPC, gave speeches in Chinese, expressing their ardent expectations for learning.

Zheng Zhijun, Director of the Office of International Exchange & Cooperation, presided over the opening ceremony. Leaders of some secondary units, teachers of the summer camp courses and university volunteers attended the opening ceremony. The summer camp is sponsored by Confucius Institute Headquarters (Hanban) and undertaken by LNU and BSUPC.

It is reported that in the next ten days, the Belarusian teachers and students will learn Chinese martial arts, calligraphy, folk music, cooking, tea art and other courses with Chinese traditional cultural characteristics, visit the LNU campus and the places of historic figures and cultural heritage of Zhanjiang, and carry out sports exchanges, evening parties, folk customs investigation and other activities.
