As an important pivot city of along "the Belt and Road", Zhanjiang has become more and more active to integrate into the world. In recent years, the city's exchanges in the fields of foreign economic and trade, education, science and technology, and culture have become more and more frequent. On October 9, 33 teachers and students from 9 primary and secondary schools in Thailand came to Lingnan Normal University (LNU) for a two-week Chinese language learning and Chinese culture experience camp.
At the opening ceremony, LNU warmly welcomed the arrival of Thai teachers and students. The Chinese learning and Chinese culture experience camp has designed various kinds of activities. During the 13 days, Thai camp members will learn Chinese language and experience 12 courses featuring traditional Chinese culture, including Chinese martial arts, Chinese calligraphy, Chinese folk music, Chinese cooking, etc. They will also carry out cultural exchange activities with college students in Zhanjiang and visit the Jinsha Bay, the Municipal Museum, the China-Australia Friendship Garden and other places.
According to JAKKREE PHANSOMBAT, Principal of Liming Middle School in Thailand, Thai schools are paying more and more attention to Chinese education, and this experience camp is a rare opportunity. He hopes that the Thai students can experience the rich and colorful Chinese culture in the camp, deepen the communication with Chinese students and bring Chinese culture and Lingnan culture back to Thailand to promote cultural exchanges between the two countries.
"I'm Thai. I like Chinese very much." At the ceremony, 26 Thai primary and secondary school students introduced themselves in simple and fluent Chinese. It is learned that the Thai campers have a certain Chinese foundation and communication level after receiving good Chinese education in Thai schools.
It is reported that universities in Zhanjiang have always attached great importance to the cooperation and exchange with Thai schools. LNU has signed cooperation agreements with 31 schools and education institutions in Thailand. Since 2004, LNU and Rajamangala University of Technology have sent students to each other's schools for two months of exchange and study every year. In recent years, LNU has sent 12 batches of about 500 interns to Thailand's primary and secondary schools for paid internship. In the past two years, 45 college students from Rajamangala University of Technology, Rangsit University and ChiangMai Rajabhat University participated in the two overseas Chinese youth summer camps organized by LNU.
