LNU Press Center News: On December 15-21, Professor John Martin Hasselberg from St. John’s University of the United States (SJU) paid a visit to Lingnan Normal University (LNU). On the afternoon of December 15, Vice President Huang Wei had a cordial meeting with Professor Hasselberg and welcomed his visit, hoping that the two universities could continue to maintain cooperative relations and carry out more cooperation programs. Zheng Zhijun, Director of the Office of International Exchange & Cooperation, Xiao Jianchun, Deputy Director of the Office, and Cheng Weijie, Deputy Section Chief of the Office, met and exchanged views with the long-time partner at the Office’s conference room. The meeting was presided over by Zheng.
At the meeting, Zheng expressed warm welcome to the SJU representatives on behalf of LNU, saying that the two universities have deepened exchanges since the signing of a cooperation agreement in 2001. He expressed LNU’s willingness to continue the student exchange program with SJU, hoping that SJU students could participate in the summer camp program at LNU while LNU students visit SJU, in an effort to deepen the friendship between students of the two universities. In terms of exchanges among teachers, Zheng invited professors from SJU to give lectures at LNU for one month, so as to conduct in-depth cooperation in the fields of language teaching, business management, and special education.
Professor Hasselberg expressed his heartfelt thanks to LNU for the warm reception, showed attendees pictures of SJU campus, introduced about long- or short-term student exchange programs between SJU and other universities around the world, and expressed the hope of cooperation between the two universities. The two sides stated that there should be more cooperation between LNU and SJU. SJU President will visit LNU if there is an opportunity. After the meeting, the two sides exchanged souvenirs and took a group photo.
On December 19-20, Professor Hasselberg participated in exchanges with the School of Foreign Languages and the School of Business of LNU, and gave two lectures on cultural differences and corporate management. On December 17, Professor Hasselberg, accompanied by LNU staff, came to the tea room of the School of Physical Education and experienced the tea art and the Chinese tea culture.
