LNU Press Center News: On the morning of May 15, Mr. Umakoshi Yukio, President of Kyushu Foreign Language Academy (KFLA), visited Lingnan Normal University (LNU) for exchanges and cooperation, off-site guidance, overseas practice base and employment guidance. LNU Vice President Huang Wei met with the guest at No. 2 Conference Room and presided over the exchange meeting. Zheng Zhijun, Director of the Office of International Exchange & Cooperation, Sun Weidong, Dean of the School of Foreign Languages, and Yang Hong, Deputy Dean of the School of Foreign Languages, attended the meeting.

Huang Wei gave an introduction to LNU’s history, faculties, talent training, discipline construction, continuing education, etc., with focus placed on characteristics, international exchanges and cooperation of LNU. He said that as a Chinese Culture Heritage Base in Guangdong Province, LNU has set up distinctive disciplines such as Chinese calligraphy, dance, Chinese as a foreign language, cooking and nutrition, as well as traditional Chinese culture courses such as Chinese martial arts, lion dance, health care and Tui na, and tea art. LNU welcomes Japanese students to exchange and study. Huang also introduced the cooperation between LNU and Japanese counterparts, and hoped to further cooperate with Japanese universities, including academic exchanges, professional cooperation, education and training, and cross-cultural exchanges among students.

Umakoshi Yukio expressed heartfelt thanks to the warm reception of LNU, and gave a brief introduction to KFLA’s Japanese language education institution, the exchanges and cooperation with major universities in China, and the direction of talent training. He hoped to promote in-depth understanding of both sides and strengthen exchanges and cooperation with LNU through exchanges this time.

Later, the two sides held in-depth talks on the cooperation in the Japanese language major, the teaching arrangements and postgraduate guidance at the overseas practice base of Japanese language, the social practice and employment guidance at the overseas practice base, and teacher exchanges and textbook development. They signed a cooperation framework agreement.

After the meeting, Umakoshi Yukio looked around the campus of LNU, accompanied by Huang Wei and other staff.
