LNU Press Center News: On the morning of March 27, Ty Ferretti, the Director of International Affairs Development & Innovation Science Administration Department of Griffith University, Australia, and Zhang Shanqing, a professor from Clean Environment and Energy Center of Griffith, visited Lingnan Normal University (LNU) and discussed with LNU leaders in charge on the “Sino-Australia cooperation platform and 2+2 talent development cooperation” exchange programs and related matters in the No. 2 Conference Room. Lan Yanze, the LNU Vice President, Li Xiaopei, the Chief of Scientific Research Division, Liu Huiqing, the Chief of Academic Affairs Division, Wang Sheng, the Dean of School of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering, and other related leaders and teachers attended this meeting.

At the beginning, Lan Yanze warmly welcomed and sincerely thanked the Delegation of Griffith University for coming to LNU from Australia. She made a brief presentation of LNU and exchanges with Australia to the guest, especially the past exchanges and cooperation with Griffith University. Lan Yanze said as LNU had interactions with Australia in the past, in this visit of Griffith University, both universities could complement each other's advantages and achieve win-win cooperation by collaborative innovation. Ty Ferretti then presented basic information of Griffith University and cooperation programs they initiated with Chinese universities and enterprises, and shared their technical research results in chemical engineering. He said they were glad to visit LNU and looked forward that a Delegation of LNU can visit their campus in the future for exchange visits and interactions. Zhang Shanqing expressed that he would like to build a bridge between two universities for exchanges and cooperation and contribute to the friendship between Chinese and Australians.

Later, both parties discussed three areas: 1. building of teaching faculty; 2. cooperative student development program; 3. transformation of industrial and technical research results. In building of teaching faculty, LNU hopes to train young teachers together with Griffith University and LNU's young teachers can study for PhDs and working as visiting scholars in Griffith University. LNU and Griffith University can deepen their cooperation in talent development to produce a number of research personnel in chemical engineering, machinery manufacturing and electronics technology. In cooperative student development program, two universities can make experimental trials of “3+1” and “2+2” talent development programs in LNU Chemical Engineering School to offer students a better platform for improvement and study opportunities by recognizing each other's credit so as to further enhance the quality of talent development. In transformation of industrial and technical research results, LNU is willing to provide Griffith University with a great technical achievement transformation platform and explore a new model of industry-university-research cooperation for win-win outcomes.

Cooperation direction and implementation method were made clear at this meeting. Both parties are prepared to draw up a specific cooperation agreement based on the contents of this meeting to lay a solid foundation for further cooperation between both parties.

It's learnt that a “flexible talent introduction agreement” has been entered into by and between Zhang Shanqing and LNU Personnel Department during the visit, by which Zhang will become a "part-time professor" of LNU and will give lectures to teachers and students of Chemistry & Chemical Engineering School and instruct the building of school's clean energy and materials team. In this July, LNU will send a delegation to visit Griffith University.
