LNU Press Center News: On the evening of July 18, the closing ceremony of 2016 Overseas Youth Summer Camp was held in Room 420, Hong Yuan Dining Hall, Lingnan Normal University. Deputy Investigator Lin Li of Zhanjiang Foreign Affairs & Overseas Chinese Affairs Bureau, Chief Deng Fengguang of International Exchanges and Cooperation Division, Dean Sun Jianhua of School of Music and Dance, Dean Chen Daohai of School of Life Science and Technology, Deputy Chiefs Zheng Zhijun and Xiao Jianchun of International Exchanges and Cooperation Division, lead teachers and instructors of overseas schools, and related staff members attended this closing ceremony.
All the attendees recalled beautiful memories in the 10 days by the help of summer camp videos and displays of calligraphy works, paintings and handicrafts of the summer campers.
“Amity between people holds the key to sound relations between states,” Chief Deng Fengguang said in his speech. The charm of Chinese culture is delivered to summer campers in multiple ways, which will influence their views on China and even their lives. He said future is in the hands of teenage students and wished they can learn by heart the peace and development are the themes of the times and make contributions to international exchanges and cooperation. Deng Fengguang then awarded completion certificates to summer campers and exchange students from the Rajamangala University of Technology, Thailand.
Deputy Investigator Lin Li hoped that overseas students of the summer camp can share what they saw and heard in Zhanjiang and their feelings about Zhanjiang with their families and friends and as a communicator, keep learning Chinese language and culture.
Lead teacher representative Guan Shide from Dongdu University, Vietnam said this summer camp was of great meaning and offered an opportunity for overseas students to learn the Chinese Culture. He hoped more students can come to LNU for exchanges; student representative Li Wenjun from LNU felt dismay at the thought of leaving of foreign students and teachers and thanked Overseas Chinese Affairs Office of Guangdong Province and LNU for offering a platform of summer camp where LNU students can experience multinational cultures in the campus. Japanese student representative Vieira De Pontes Hayumi from Matsumoto University said this summer camp altered his understanding of China; South Korean student representative from Silla University thanked LNU teachers and students for their hospitality, consideration and care; Thai student representative Zhou Sicong hoped for next chance to come back to LNU; Vietnamese student representative Chen Fangling from Dongdu University showed her love for Chinese culture and hoped she can work hard at Chinese language and make contribution to friendship between China and Vietnam.
After the closing ceremony, an evening party with a theme of “Chinese Dream and Friendship in LNU” immersed everyone in the rich cultures of these Asian countries. Students from China, Japan, South Korean and Thailand brought performances with their own cultural characteristics for the audience, presenting a grand feast of seeing and hearing. In the fervent atmosphere, highlight came one after another. All the Chinese and foreign teachers and students had a wonderful evening together and all of them were unwilling to part with each other. At that moment, 2016 Overseas Youth Summer Camp officially came to an end.
