LNU Press Center News: On July 11, 2016 Overseas Youth Summer Camp in LNU had a grand opening and 64 teachers and students from 8 universities in Japan, South Korean, Thailand and Vietnam and 80 LNU teachers and students attended the opening ceremony held in LNU. LNU Vice President Huang Wei, Deputy Director Li Daiming of Zhanjiang Foreign Affairs & Overseas Chinese Affairs Bureau, officers from related public institutions and instructors attended the event. The opening ceremony was presided over by Chief Deng Fengguang of LNU International Exchanges and Cooperation Division.
Huang Wei first on behalf of LNU gave a warm welcome to all the overseas teachers and students coming for 2016 Overseas Youth Summer Camp. Later, he briefly introduced the operation of LNU and a variety of learning activities they organized for this summer camp. He wished summer campers can have a better understanding about splendid traditional Chinese culture, enhance multicultural exchanges and promote mutual understanding and trust, develop a friendship and strengthen education of global understanding in the activities to bring Chinese culture to the world.
Deputy Director Li Daiming made a presentation of urban environment and economic development of Zhanjiang City, hoping summer campers can participate in various learning activities in beautiful Zhanjiang, learn the local customs and folklore by themselves, study and understand splendid traditional culture.
South Korean lead teacher Jeong Eun from Silla University, South Korea and student Kim Dong Jing from Chongju University and LNU student representative Liu Xiaoyan expressed their expectations of the summer camp. They wished to improved relationship with other students, communicate in Chinese and have a pleasant time through the activities in the next few days.
In the opening ceremony, Vietnamese Dongdu University on behalf of 8 universities presented a souvenir to LNU and LNU presented souvenirs to the universities participating in this summer camp. Vice President Huang Wei granted the summer camp flag to lead teacher representative Jeong Eun from South Korean Silla University and announced 2016 Overseas Youth Summer Camp in LNU officially opened.
After the ceremony, some foreign students and teachers were interviewed and they all looked forward to the summer camp. It's the first time that the lead teacher Guan Shide from Vietnamese Dongdu University has been to LNU summer camp. He said LNU has a beautiful environment and abundant characteristics of Chinese culture. He hoped for more exchange programs for their students and teachers. It's the second time that Song Sang Hyun from South Korean Chungbuk National University has been to LNU. With early understanding of LNU, Zhanjiang and Chinese culture in the first visit, he said: “I'm looking forward to the summer camp activities in the next few days to communicate and study with students from China, Thailand, Japan and Vietnam and learn their customs.” It also the second time for Su Jiale from Rajamangala University of Technology being here. “This time I want to experience things different from the last year, make more friends and relive the wonderful moments of last summer camp,” she said. Kim Dong Jing from Chongju University appreciated the campus environment of LNU and looked forward to a fantastic cultural journey in the beautiful LNU.
It's learnt that it is the third “Tracing Origins” summer camp undertaken by LNU, which is sponsored by Overseas Chinese Affairs of Office of Guangdong Province and the largest overseas Chinese youth summer camp organized by LNU in recent years. The success of this summer camp will help enhance the exchanges and cooperation relationships between LNU and overseas partner schools, strengthen friendship between LNU teachers and students and ones from East Asian and Southeast Asian universities and make great contribution to communication of Chinese culture and improvement of school's international influence.
