On the afternoon of May 21 and the morning of May 22, on behalf of LNU, Vice President Shao Lexi attended the Sino-Belarus President Forum at Guangdong University of Foreign Studies and the second meeting of Educational Cooperation Sub-committee of Sino-Belarus Intergovernmental Cooperation Committee held at Dongfang Hotel. At the President Forum, Shao Lexi made a speech titled The Sino-Belarus Cultivation of International Sports Talents Driven by Collaborative Innovation. Director of the International Exchange and Cooperation Division Deng Fengguang accompanied Shao at relevant events.

At the forum, Shao Lexi pointed out that, with further development of Sino-Belarus relationship, both countries enjoy closer communication and cooperation in higher learning education. In 2009, LNU began to develop cooperative bonds with higher learning institutions and cultural organizations in Belarus, with achievements represented by the signing of cooperation agreement with Belarusian State University of Physical Culture (BSUPC) and Belarusian State Pedagogical University (BSPU) respectively, two delegations from Belarus Cultural Promotion Committee to LNU for martial arts exchange and winter soccer training, and 7 students and 1 teacher from LNU enrolled into BSPU and BSUPC for master and doctorate programs respectively. In particular, the Confucius Classroom jointly initiated by LNU and BSUPC obtained approval from Hanban last year and was launched accordingly. LNU established specially a “Sino-Belarus International Sports Talent Development Project” in its innovation-driven college development program, making steady and in-depth cooperation with Belarus universities in talent development at Confucius Classroom, student internship, teacher exchanges, discipline cooperation and other aspects, so as to jointly promote cultural and educational exchanges between China and Belarus. The cooperation between LNU and Belarus universities was fully recognized by Vice Inspector of Department of Education of Guangdong Province Hu Zhenmin.

At the second meeting of educational cooperation sub-committee of Sino-Belarus Intergovernmental Cooperation Committee, Vice Minister of the Ministry of Education in China Hao Ping and Vice Minister of the Ministry of Education in Belarus Bogush, on behalf of each government, proposed specific measures to implement educational cooperation agreed by the heads of two states. They approved the 2016-2017 plan on cooperation between ministries of both countries, agreed to carry out in-depth cooperation in student exchange, language teaching, scientific research and other areas and to build on the “Belt and Road Initiative” to steadily improve quality and standard of educational cooperation between the both countries. Hao Ping and Bogush signed the Meeting Minutes of the Second Meeting of Educational Cooperation Sub-committee of Sino-Belarus Intergovernmental Cooperation Committee at the meeting. After the meeting, Vice President Shao Lexi and the First Vice President of BSPU Ivanovna had a nice discussion and expressed the expectation for further cooperation between the two institutions.
