LNU News Center: On the afternoon of November 10, a delegation of seven people from the Atlantic City of the United States visited Lingnan Normal University (LNU) in the company of Li Daiming, Deputy Director of Zhanjiang Bureau of Foreign Affairs and Overseas Chinese Affairs. Huang Gang, Vice President of LNU, hosted an exchange meeting for the guests in the No. 2 Conference Room.

Vice President Huang Gang first introduced LNU. He stressed that the 110-year-old LNU is a public undergraduate university specialized in teacher training in Guangdong. In recent years, it has increased the scope of international exchanges in line with the concept of open vision and international integration. Every year, more than 300 students go abroad for exchange, and teachers are also frequently sent abroad for academic exchanges. In the past month, 4 leaders led delegations to Japan, South Korea, Belarus and Russia for investigation and exchange. It is hoped that this meeting will promote the cooperation between Stockton University of the United States and LNU.

Frank Gilliam, Atlantic City Councilman, introduced the basic situation of Atlantic City. He said that both sides lay emphasis on cultivation of teachers and students, and he hoped that students can absorb diverse knowledge. It is also hoped that the programs of exchange and cooperation with LNU will bear fruit and more cooperation will follow in more fields. Sharon E. Schulman, Vice President of Stockton University, then introduced the basic situation of Stockton University, and expressed her willingness to establish a cooperative relationship with LNU. Mohammed Ayub, Regional Division Executive Officer of Atlantic City Department of Planning & Development, expressed the hope that more Chinese students will study and exchange in the United States, and they will treat exchange students fairly while absorbing more diverse students. Deputy Director Zheng Zhijun later briefed on the exchanges between LNU and American universities.
Afterwards, the two sides discussed the possible cooperation. Both sides believed that there are broad prospects for cooperation in student exchanges, teacher exchanges and scientific research, especially in tourism and hospitality management, marine science and coastal research center, and Belt and Road scientific research projects. Frank Gilliam pointed out that since Atlantic City and Zhanjiang are sister cities, the exchange students from LNU will enjoy the privilege to pay the fees according to the local students’ payment standards, which are more favorable than those for students in America expect New Jersey. Vice President Huang Gang expressed his appreciation for this and hoped that the two sides will maintain further communication and promote the development of cooperation projects as soon as possible.

When the meeting was over, the two sides exchanged souvenirs and business cards.

The two sides failed to carry out in-depth exchanges as time is limited, but both sides intend to create synergy between relevant departments. According to Sharon Schulman, if the cooperation can be reached, LNU will be the first Chinese partner institution of Stockton University.
