Lingnan Normal University News Center: On the morning of November 18, Ms. Cait Noone, Vice President for International Engagement and Head of the International Hotel School of Galway-Mayo Institute of Technology (GMIT), and Ms. Jacinta Dalton, Head of Department of Culinary Arts and Services, visited Lingnan Normal University (LNU). Lan Yanze, President of LNU, received the guests, and Vice President Dai Shu met with the guests in the No. 1 Conference Room, where the sides exchanged views on the educational cooperation.
Dai Shu extended a warm welcome to Cait Noone and her companion, and then introduced LNU from five aspects: optimal location, long history, large scale, high quality, and extensive communication. According to Dai, LNU has proactively carried out exchange activities with overseas universities and educational institutions. He expressed the hope that the two sides will establish a close cooperative relationship, improving the construction quality of culinary disciplines in mutual learning and propelling the cooperation in school-running programs.
Chen Daohai, Dean of the School of Life Science and Technology, introduced the development status and cooperation programs of the Major of Cooking and Nutrition Education of LNU. He said that the Cooking and Nutrition Education Major of LNU is the earliest undergraduate major of its type established in Guangdong Province. Over the past 25 years, the school has formed an excellent teaching team, a multi-functional cooking training center and multiple basic teaching laboratories. Up to now, LNU has trained more than 1,000 professionals, with 100% of graduate employment over the years.
Ms. Cait Noone expressed her sincere gratitude for the warm reception, and then, together with Ms. Jacinta Dalton, introduced GMIT from the aspects of geographical location, cultural environment, professional characteristics, teaching practices and training programs. She looks forward to the close exchange and cooperation between the two universities in hotel management, tourism management, and cooking.
After the meeting, the two sides exchanged the Memorandum of Understanding, presented each other with souvenirs, and took a group photo.
The meeting was chaired by Zheng Zhijun, Director of the LNU International Exchange and Cooperation Office. Hou Jieying, Director of the International Cooperation and Exchange Department of the Beijing International Education Institute, and relevant staff of LNU Students’ Affairs Office, Academic Affairs Office, International Exchange and Cooperation Office, and the School of Life Science and Technology also attended the meeting.
