LNU News Center: On the afternoon of October 23, Richard Laroche, Director Principal of Institut de Tourisme et d Hôtellerie du Québec (ITHQ), visited Lingnan Normal University (LNU). Lan Yanze, President of LNU, met with the guests in the No. 1 Conference Room, where the two sides exchanged views on the educational cooperation.

Lan Yanze first extended a warm welcome to Richard Laroche and his delegation, and then introduced LNU from five aspects: optimal location, long history, large scale, high quality, and extensive communication. “Although our university is geologically far from Guangzhou, but we are close to the world.” According to Lan, LNU has proactively carried out exchange activities with overseas educational institutions, such as academic exchanges, professional cooperation, educational training, mutual employment of teachers, and cross-cultural learning of students. It has established intimate cooperative relations with more than 70 overseas universities and educational institutions from the United States, Germany, Japan, Thailand, etc., sending more than 200 students abroad for study, internship and research each year. She expressed the hope that the two sides will establish a close cooperative relationship, help improving the construction quality of related disciplines of LNU as well as the development of cooperation in running schools.

Richard Laroche expressed thanks to Lan for the warm hospitality and introduced the basic situation of ITHQ in terms of geographical location, cultural environment, professional characteristics, teaching practices, training programs and so on. He said that ITHQ is Canada’s premier college specializing in tourism management and also the only educational institution in Canada that offers vocational education, technical education, and undergraduate and postgraduate courses. It is hoped that the two sides will conduct close exchanges and cooperation in hotel management, tourism management, cooking and other aspects.

The two sides had in-depth talks on the three majors of hotel management, tourism management, and cooking, discussing cooperation matters about educational programs in detail. After the meeting, the two sides exchanged souvenirs and had a group photo.

The meeting was chaired by Zheng Zhijun, Director of Office of International Exchange & Cooperation, LNU. Other participants include Sylvie Theriault, Senior Consultant of ITHQ’s International Programs, and Cindy Zhang, Asian Representative of International Programs, as well as relevant staff from Office of the President, Office of International Exchange & Cooperation, Student Affairs Office, and School of Business of LNU.
