21 Belarusian Teachers and Students Attend 2018 Summer Camp of Confucius Classroo​m at BSUPC

Lingnan Normal University News Center News: On the morning of May 30, 2018 Summer Camp of Confucius Classroom at BSUPC officially opened at Lingnan Normal University (LNU). 21 Belarusian teachers and students will experience traditional Chinese culture for 10 days at our school. Huang Wei, Vice President of LNU, presented the flag to Ms. Natallia Kastseyeva, the team leader of BSUPC students, and then announced the opening of the camp.

 In his speech, Mr. Huang Wei said that the Confucius Classroom acted as a platform for young students from China and Belarus to enhance their friendship. Besides, it played a positive role in promoting the understanding of Chinese traditional culture, strengthening cultural exchanges among the youth and broadening their cultural horizons. He hoped that teachers and students from China and Belarus would actively participate in the activities based on mutual respect, mutual learning and motivation. Both sides can further deepen their knowledge and identity of the Chinese culture, enhance mutual trust and friendship in future learning and exchanges. He wished more participants could play a part in carrying forward the excellent traditional culture of China by spreading Chinese culture and promoting the communication between Chinese civilization and other civilizations.

 “The students of the summer camp are going to engage in various activities in the beautiful city of Zhanjiang. This is a precious chance for them to learn Chinese, as well as a chance to learn about Zhanjiang and Chinese traditional culture.” said Lin Li. Lin is the associate researcher of Zhanjiang Foreign and Overseas Chinese Affairs Bureau. She hoped that students of the Confucius Classroom could appreciate this opportunity to learn more about China and Zhanjiang, and build a bridge of friendship between Belarus and Zhanjiang.

   The Confucius Classroom is one of the most promising and fruitful cooperation projects between BSUPC and LNU.” said Ms. Natalia Kasstseyeva. She said that the activities held by Confucius Classroom have gone beyond what an independent classroom was capable of. Both sides are striving to upgrade “Confucius Classroom” to “Confucius Institute”. The upgrading will surely enhance the friendship of the two schools, and open a wider prospect of the knowledge and cultural value exchange for both sides based on a friendly partnership.

 Yang Lin, a student representative of LNU’s School of Foreign Studies, expressed her wish to guide Belarusian students for a tour of campus, to complete a variety of cultural studies, cultural performances and sports competitions, so that they can experience the distinctive Chinese culture and customs.

 “We want to make some new friends at LNU, as well as learn more about Chinese culture and Chinese language.” Volha Yefimovich and Anastasiya Bylitskaya, two of BSUPC students, spoke in less fluent Chinese and expressed their desire for learning here.

 Zheng Zhijun, Director of Office of International Exchange & Cooperation, presided over the opening ceremony. The heads of some secondary units of LNU, the teachers of the summer camp and volunteer students attended the opening ceremony. The summer camp was hosted by the Confucius Institute Headquarters (Hanban), and organized by LNU and BSUPC.

 In the next 10 days, Belarusian teachers and students will learn about Chinese martial arts, calligraphy, folk music, cooking, tea ceremony and other courses with Chinese characteristics. They will take a campus tour of LNU and visit the cultural landscape in Zhanjiang, as well as take part in sports exchanges, evening gala, and folk customs investigation.
