At CUHK, the delegation discussed with Huang Yong, Director of Global Affairs Office about the cooperation on exchange of teachers and students and on LNU teachers application for the admission to the study of master degree and doctor degree courses at CUHK. At LU, the delegation was well received by Vice President Prof Joshua MOK Ka-Ho and other LU members. Prof Joshua said that he was pleased at the visit of the LNU delegation, as the two universities shared their names in common. The two universities agreed to further explore collaboration opportunities, including but not limited to academic exchanges (cooperation on research platforms, exchange of academic information, etc.) and LNU undergraduates’ applications for the admission to the study of master degree courses and on LNU teachers applications for the admission to the study of doctor degree courses. In particular, LU offered special preferential policy that the academic staff from partner schools would directly go to the interview session without taking paper examinations at first. The two universities hoped to enter into a cooperation agreement within the shortest period of time. In addition, Prof Joshua MOK Ka-Ho proposed to establish a university alliance among LU, LNU and Yeungnam University to facilitate exchange and flow of teachers and students among the three schools and improve their core competitive edge. Vice President Dai Shu showed appreciation and recognition of the proposal, noting that LNU would immediately study the feasibility of the proposal and make preparations if possible.

From April 10 to 11, the delegation visited MUST, CityU and IPM. At MUST, the delegation met with Vice President Lin Zhijun and leaders of relevant colleges. The two universities discussed joint application for the research fund of the Greater Bay Area, and cooperation on Tourism and Hotel Management Program, and LNU undergraduates’ applications for the admission to the study of master degree courses and the training of LNUs academic staff, and reached a preliminary intention of cooperation. Afterwards, the delegation visited the laboratory of the Tourism and Hotel Management Program, and held a meeting with the leaders of Social and Cultural Research Institute about scientific cooperation. At CityU, the delegation met with Vice President Ye Guiping and leaders of relevant divisions and offices. The two universities agreed on the acceptance of LNUs senior academic visitors, LNU students transfer of credits and LNU teachers’ application for the admission to the study of doctor degree courses at CityU, and hoped to finalize a deal as soon as possible. At IPM, the delegation met with the Director of Global Affairs Office. The two universities respectively introduced the basic facts of their schools and explored the opportunities of collaboration.

On the morning of April 11, the delegation visited 11 teachers studying doctor degree courses at CityU. The teachers showed their appreciation for the precious opportunity provided by LNU. Vice President Dai Shu learned about their studying and living in Macao, encouraged them to fully engage in their study and return to the school as soon as possible with academic accomplishment so as to contribute to building LNU into a higher-level normal university with distinct characteristics.

The delegations visit has boosted the cooperation between LNU and higher institutions in Hong Kong and Macao and laid solid foundations for LNU to fulfill its commitment to contribution to the educational course of Greater Bay Area. It will also improve LNUs discipline construction, talent cultivation and academic research cooperation performances. In the meantime, the visit has made adequate preparation for LNU delegation led by Secretary of CPC LNU Committee Liu Minggui to visit higher institutions in Hong Kong and Macao and make cooperative achievements in the second half.
