International Exchange Students Administration in LNU (Trial)

1. In order to make full use of excellent teaching resources of famous universities at home and abroad, realize inter-school complementary advantages, standardize the management of inter-school exchange students, and improve the quality of talent cultivation, these Measures are formulated in accordance with the Higher Education Law, the Regulations on Student Management of Lingnan Normal University and international practices.

2. In accordance with the school-level agreement between the two schools, exchange students are recommended by their schools to study in Lingnan Normal University. Students must abide by the laws of China, the rules and regulations of Lingnan Normal University, and the rules and regulations of Lingnan Normal University for international students.

3. International exchange students are enrolled as General Scholars for exchange programs. International exchange students are administered in a cooperative management system both by the Office of Exchange and Cooperation and their host school in LNU:

 The Office of Exchange and Cooperation shall process formalities such as new semester registrations and provide relevant administration and services. The school and the Academic Affairs Department are in charge of academic affairs;

 The host school is expected to provide relevant services and formalities when students have their registration there, including course registration, purchase of teaching materials and course information announcement, etc. They are expected to act as direct executive offices.

4. Except for relevant expenses covered in conformity with accorded agreements between their universities and LNU, international exchange students should bear the expenses brought about during their stay in China.

5. International exchange students can directly check in at the designated reception desk according to the registration notice. They are expected to pay for the lodging fees if they arrive in advance. The Dormitory Management Centre will arrange rooms in accordance with relevant regulations and student types.

6. Besides the courses offered at their host school, international exchange students are allowed to select courses available in other departments and schools. Students should select courses according to the requests made by their home universities as well as their own study plans and individual interests. International exchange students are not allowed to select cross-degree courses.

7. International exchange students must select courses in accordance with the procedures of course selection. They will acquire proportional credits after passing the examinations. Transcripts will be sent to appointed offices of their home universities within 3 months of the next semester. If there is any flaw or typographical error on the transcript, please contact the Office of International Exchange and Cooperation through the home universityand apply to relevant schools and the Academic Affairs Department for verification and correction.

8. When leaving the university, exchange students should complete departure procedures in accordance with rules and regulations (Please refer to Leaving Notice for Exchange Students). If an exchange student needs to shorten or extend his/her study at LNU, he/she should submit an application to his/her home university in advance. With the agreement from the home university, students can apply to the International Office for follow-up procedures.

9. Students admitted to LNU via agreements between colleges are administered and managed in accordance with the above regulations and relevant rules of their host schools.

10.  These regulations document shall take effect from their date of issue; where the right of interpreting the details belongs exclusively to the Office of International Exchange and Cooperation of LNU.
