41 Thai Students Successfully Complete 13-day Chinese Cultural Experience Tour

Lingnan Normal University News Center News: On the evening of October 24, the closing ceremony and achievement presentation meeting of the 2nd Chinese Language and Culture Camp for Thai Primary and Secondary School Students organized by the Office of International Exchange and Cooperation of Lingnan Normal University was successfully concluded in a happy atmosphere.

At the closing ceremony, Zheng Zhijun, Director of the Office of International Exchange and Cooperation, said that this camp has enabled Thai campers to improve their Chinese proficiency, experience the beauty and affect, and experience the extensive, profound and captivating traditional Chinese culture. During the exchange, students from China and Thailand had their thoughts blended, their mind interacted, their emotions sublimated and their friendship carried on. He hopes that Thai students can become passionate communicators of Chinese culture and active promoters of cultural exchanges between China and Thailand, bringing back China's excellent culture and making Sino-Thai cultural exchanges generate more brilliant sparks.

Li Xingyou, manager of Thailand Shunjing Chinese Language Center, stated that by participating in the experience camp, campers can not only learn Chinese, meet new teachers and friends, but also experience the rich and colorful Chinese culture. He looks forward to more opportunities for cooperation between schools in China and Thailand in the future.

At the achievement presentation meeting, participants looked back upon the happy time of the 13-day experience camp by watching wonderful videos; and the campers' abundant learning outcomes were showed, including the calligraphy works reading "天地人" (literally meaning heaven, earth and man), the panda Chinese paintings, paper-cuts, Chinese knots, and facial masks. Thai students performed Thai dances such as Wai Kru Muay Dance and Rain Dance to show the distinctive culture of Thailand. The students of our university let the teachers and students of Thailand feel the charm of Chinese culture with the traditional Chinese performances of martial arts and folk music ensemble. The display of Chinese and Thai costumes, the Chinese and Thai students chorus, and the Chinese folk dance Jasmine Flower performed by Thai primary and secondary school students showed the harmonious scene of students from China and Thailand cooperating with each other to spread the culture of China and Thailand.

“At Lingnan Normal University, I feel homely warmth,” said Mr. Konqphop, a camper representative, adding that he hopes to start his university life at our university in the future.

Heads and teachers from the School of Foreign Studies, the School of Fine Arts and Design, the School of Sports Science, the School of Life Sciences and Technology, the School of Music and Dance and the Office of International Exchange and Cooperation participated in the event.
